About Us

At He Breaks Chains, we believe no one’s story is ever truly finished. Founded on the simple yet powerful belief that every person deserves hope, love, and the chance for a fresh start, we're dedicated to reaching inmates who often feel forgotten, unseen, and alone.

Honestly, we've seen firsthand how addiction and incarceration affect lives—not just for the person behind bars, but their families too. It's heartbreaking, right? Yet it's exactly why we exist. We’re here to remind people that their worst moment doesn't define them.

Why We Started

Sarah Morgan, our founder, knows what it’s like to love someone caught in the cycle of addiction and imprisonment. In the midst of pain, uncertainty, and frustration, Sarah turned to writing deeply personal letters rooted in faith. These weren't just ordinary letters—they were filled with hope, compassion, and the profound, transformative love of Jesus.

Those letters turned into our flagship devotional, Chain-Breaker, a lifeline for countless incarcerated individuals and their families. It's simple, powerful, and real—because real hope doesn't need fancy words.

Our Mission

At He Breaks Chains, we’re all about bringing hope, healing, and transformation to inmates through the message of Jesus's unconditional love.

How do we do it?

  • Sending devotionals directly to inmates

  • Speaking encouragement and truth through prison ministries

  • Offering support and comfort to families affected by incarceration

We believe change starts when someone hears they're still valued, still loved, and still have purpose. That's exactly what we share.

Their Story:

After battling addiction for over a decade, Nathan found himself in jail again. For Sarah, it felt heartbreaking yet familiar—like the drugs would never let go of her brother.

She wanted to write to him but didn’t know what to say. Then, while out for a run, she felt the Lord prompting her to share the good news. Sweaty running clothes and all, she sat down and wrote a letter about Matthew 18.

That letter became Day 1 of Chain-Breaker—though they didn’t know it yet.

Nathan’s response was immediate. He called Sarah, excited and full of questions. So she wrote again. And again. Soon, Nathan was sharing the gospel with fellow inmates, using the letters to lead Bible studies in his cell block.

Feeling called to share more, Sarah and Nathan decided to publish the letters as a devotional. With Sarah’s background in education, she simplified the gospel, knowing that 70% of incarcerated adults read below a fourth-grade level. They also ensured the book met strict prison guidelines so it could reach as many inmates as possible.

Through Jesus, Nathan’s life has been completely transformed. He is no longer bound by addiction—his chains are broken. Now, Sarah and Nathan continue to share the gospel through this ministry, praying it reaches anyone willing to hear His message.
